 CAPUT-ensemble founded under the name "The New Music Group". The group gave a few concerts annually during the first few years, primarily with new music by Icelandic composers but also with music by composers such as Abrahamsen, Berio, Crumb, Donatoni, Ferneyhough, Fukushima, Ligeti, MacMillan, Mellnäs, Messiaen, Pärt, Poulenc, Saariaho, Szalonek, Scelci, Schnittke, Scryabin, Shostakovich, Stockhausen, Stravinsky and Xenakis.
